Walking Pages and Walking Books

Here at Walking Pages our mission is to provide a user friendly information resource for people who enjoy recreational walking in the countryside. We hope to give you ideas for places to go for a walk either locally or, if you are planning a holiday, anywhere in the British Isles.

We also provide a wide choice of walking guides and maps to ensure you can easily obtain detailed information on walks in your chosen area, wherever that may be. These guides include titles from all the major publishers and also locally produced guides written by walkers with comprehensive local knowledge. All the guides can be purchased from our Walking Books on line bookshop. We rely on book sales as our income source to cover the costs of maintaining the website, so please consider us if you are planning to purchase a walking guide book. Our bookshop has fully secure checkout pages, so you can be sure any credit card payments are totally safe. You also have the option of using PayPal.

Our team are enthusiastic walkers like yourself who share your love of the countryside and, most importantly, believe in putting customer service and satisfaction first and foremost. Acknowledgements

Firstly we would like to thank all of the authors of the walking guide books we stock. Their outdoors knowledge and literary skills have provided Britain’s walkers with an invaluable resource for safe and enjoyable walking. We have used very short extracts from some of these titles in our website text and we acknowledge with thanks the use of their intellectual property for the purpose of promoting walking and their work.

Secondly we acknowledge ownership of any photograph reproduced on our site to the original photographer. In illustrating our text covering much of the UK we have used numerous sources for photographs as well as those of our own photographers. Most of these are in the public domain or available under creative commons licences. We have not attributed ownership of each individual photograph, but are happy to do this for specific photographs if the owner so wishes.

Site content submissions

The nature of our subject means that we rely on accurate local knowledge to expand the usefulness of Walking Pages to our visitors. We therefore welcome additional content from walkers who have, and are willing to share, reliable local knowledge. If you would like to become a contributor your authorship of any published material will be acknowledged both adjacent to the article and on our acknowledgements page (with your e-mail address if you so wish). Intellectual property rights for material published will, of course, remain with you the author. If you feel you can assist our project in this way please get in touch.

If you have published a local walking guide we would be very pleased to promote it on Walking Pages. Simply send a copy to us for evaluation and, subject to approval, we will promote details on our appropriate pages and, if you wish, add it to our on-line sales catalogue.
