Darent Valley Path

The Darent Valley Path introduces you to the story of the River Darent as it flows from its source in the Greensand hills south of Westerham to join the Thames north of Dartford for its final journey to the sea. The 19 mile waymarked walk between Sevenoaks and the River Thames takes you through a varied landscape: riverside fringed with ancient willows, hop gardens and corn fields, secretive woodlands; downland carpeted with wildflowers and expanses of marshland. The rich history of the valley has left many legacies. There are Roman remains, majestic viaducts, historic houses, old mills and picturesque villages with beautiful churches.

The Darent Valley path is suitable for family groups, casual walkers and seasoned ramblers alike. The whole walk, or sections of it can be achieved with the assistance of public transport. The route is well signposted with distinctive Darent Valley Path signs.
